Prevention Programming
Medfield Outreach coordinates two community coalitions focused on reducing youth substance use and preventing suicide. In addition to our community prevention work, Medfield Outreach collaborates with the Medfield Public Schools to provide supplemental education and programming to support the wellness of students and staff.
"Many factors influence a person’s chance of developing a mental and/or substance use disorder. Effective prevention focuses on reducing those risk factors, and strengthening protective factors, that are most closely related to the problem being addressed."

Community Coalitions
Medfield Cares About Prevention (MCAP)
Medfield Cares About Prevention (MCAP) is a coalition of people who live and work in the Medfield community and who care about the well-being of our youth. This coalition has broad representation of parents, youth, businesses, schools, healthcare professionals, private organizations, and public agencies. MCAP’s mission is to reduce youth substance use, promote healthy decisions, and build a culture of safety in Medfield. MCAP is currently working to specifically target alcohol, marijuana and electronic vapor products and to promote positive alternatives to substance use through community collaboration.
MCAP received a Drug-Free Communities grant in October 2019. Since the inception of the Drug-Free Communities Support Program, DFC grantees have affected a significant decline in youth substance use rates. The DFC grant has allowed for MCAP to create a cohesive strategy to reduce youth substance use and provided the needed resources to implement evidence-based strategies for change. The whole community can keep our youth safe!
The Medfield Cares About Prevention coalition meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month. Please email medfieldoutreach@medfield.net for meeting details. New members welcome!
Medfield Coalition for Suicide Prevention (MCSP)
The Medfield Coalition for Suicide Prevention (MCSP) is a coalition created in September 2017 composed of community members and professionals who desire to promote mental health. We recognize that suicide has touched our town and by coming together, formed an initiative that raises awareness and has the potential to save lives. The mission of MedfieldCSP is to promote the mental health and emotional well-being of all community members. We strive to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and educate our community to help prevent suicide. The vision of MedfieldCSP is to build a community where suicide, self-harm and stigma have been replaced by hope, self-care and acceptance.
The Medfield Coalition for Suicide Prevention meets virtually on the second Wednesday of each month. Please email medfieldoutreach@medfield.net for the Zoom link. New members welcome!
