January 2025 - Public Library - Heat Pump Rooftop Units

At the start of the new year six new heat pump roof top units were installed at the Public Library. This new equipment will provide heat without carbon emissions – using high efficiency electric heat pump technology. They are replacing old natural gas heaters. The new units were paid for largely by grant funds from the Massachusetts Green Communities program. The grant money helps the town get the project done and minimize expense to the town. There will still be back up natural gas heat available for colder temperatures.

March 2025 - Public Library - Fire Alarm Replacement Project

The fire alarm replacement project started in March, and finished in April. The existing system was well past it's useful lifecycle and was in need of replacement. This project included design and installation of a new system using up to date technology. The existing system remained online throughout the construction, and everything was switched over to the new system off hours to avoid disruption to the public.

APRIL 2025 - PUBLIC LIBRARY - EXTERIOR WINDOW SEALANT PROJECT

The exterior window sealant on the 'original' building side of the Public Library was in need of replacement. The unique Palladian-style windows offer symmetry, and natural light while adding historical charm and potential property value as long as they are well maintained. Deteriorated window sealant allows for air and water infiltration. To prevent this, old sealant was completely removed and replaced with a durable silicone UV resistant sealant.

MAY 2025 - PUBLIC LIBRARY - INTERIOR WINDOW RESTORATION PROJECT

The Palladian style windows on the 'original' building side of the library had long standing water damage from rain events over the years. After the exterior sealant replaced around the windows was replaced in April, the interior components of the windows and surrounding walls were restored. Work included painting, caulking, and replacing damaged wood components.
