Notary Services Guidelines

Please note Notary Services are provided by this office as a courtesy for Medfield Residents.

The Notaries at the Town House are not attorneys.  Based on Massachusetts General Law Chapter 222 Section 17E - the notaries will not notarize real estate documents, deeds, or wills.  An attorney is required for those documents.

Staff reserves the right to deny notarial services if the below mentioned policies are not followed, if documents are incomplete, if documents are in a format that is unacceptable to this office, or if the documents do not have the notarial clause/statement.

The following are REQUIRED in order to be provided with Notary Services:

  • The document CANNOT already have been signed nor dated
  • All signers MUST be PRESENT at time of notarizing
  • The Notary is stating they have WITNESSED the document being signed
  • If additional witness are required for the document, it is the signers responsibility to bring the additional witness to the notary appointment

The person(s) signing MUST provide a proper photo ID (acceptable forms of ID include current driver’s license or passport)

Please call the Town Clerk’s office regarding any questions and to ensure the Notary will be in the office at the time you will visit. You can contact us at 508-906-3024 or email mbonoldi@medfield.net
