August 2024 - Council on Aging - Exterior Siding Repairs
In Summer of 2024, the building envelope at the Council on Aging facility underwent improvements. There were several areas where the existing cement clapboard siding was in need of repair, and there were also several locations where the exterior paint was starting to fail. A contractor was able to identify all of the problem locations, resecure the siding, and repaint as needed in order to preserve the building envelope. These small improvements are extremely important for extending the life of the building.
September 2024 - Council on Aging - Brick Medallion Replacement
In the Fall of 2024, the decorative brick inlays at the Council on Aging were removed and replaced with concrete. The bricks had settled since the original installation in 2008. The concrete to brick transition had turned into a tripping hazard for staff and the public. The replacement with concrete helped level off the area while preserving the aesthetic of the front and rear entry doors.
May 2025 - Council on Aging - Exterior Painting Project
The exterior of the council on aging facility was painted in spring. The last time the building was painted was during the original construction back in 2008. The building was powerwashed, followed by a coat of primer and two finish coats of paint.
August 2025 - Council on Aging - Sidewalk Extension Project
During the summer, a project was completed to extend the sidewalk from the side of the building, to connect with the back patio area. Prior to this project, there was not a convenient way to get to the back of the building without going through the building. The Council on Aging has a beautiful backyard with patio, tables, seating, horseshoe area, and plenty of plants, bids, flowers and other nature. This sidewalk ties the area together an improves the Center experience for the public.
September 2025 - Council on Aging - Flooring Replacement Project
In the late summer, the worn down carpeting at the Council on Aging was replaced. The carpeting was nearing 20 years of age and was in need of replacement. The Council on Aging is a very high traffic building which subjects the carpeting to extensive wear and tear. The Carpet was replaced with a combination of carpet squares and vinyl tile. The existing vinyl composite tile (VCT) flooring areas were stripped and waxed which gives them a nice shine, and is important for maintenance to extend the life of the tile. The wood floors in the dining area and multipurpose rooms were refinished earlier in the spring.
